All-ceramic restorations
Like no other dental material, the structure of all-ceramic resembles tooth enamel: it is slightly translucent, and light can also penetrate into the deeper layers of the tooth.
All-ceramic crowns and bridges
Yet even today, an all-ceramic crown is still not a matter of course. Depending on individual circumstances and the expertise of the treating dentist, crowns and bridges are fitted that have a metal framework as their "substructure". This can disturb the way light passes through and is refracted, and the tooth sometimes looks grey and less lifelike. Moreover, even with slight gum recession the metal-coloured crown margin becomes visible if a so-called ceramic shoulder firing (ceramic veneering beyond the crown margin) has not been carried out.
Thanks to new high-quality all-ceramic materials, however, in many cases even bridges can now be made entirely of ceramic and blend in perfectly with the row of teeth. The advantage: even to a trained eye, the restoration is virtually unrecognisable.
Zirconium oxide is also a good thermal and electrical insulator. It therefore meets the highest demands: patients are delighted by the exceptional aesthetics, and dentists particularly value the high accuracy of fit and stability.
Our approach
A visible difference!
Once fitted, all-ceramic restorations resemble natural teeth — an all-ceramic crown also resembles the natural tooth in its translucency and the way light passes through it. But the advantage of all-ceramic is obvious not only in terms of aesthetics. Materials containing metal can lead to allergic or toxic reactions. Restorations with all-ceramic inlays or crowns, on the other hand, are biologically safe. No patient has to forgo treatment that is optimal both visually and functionally out of fear of unwanted reactions in the mouth.
As a high-tech ceramic, zirconium oxide has already proven its exceptional range of properties in many areas of industry. In dentistry, too, it opens up entirely new perspectives for all-ceramic restorations with outstanding strength, long-term stability and aesthetics, right through to the back teeth.
Zirconium oxide
-
Biocompatibility
The excellent biocompatibility of zirconium oxide has been confirmed in hip joint implantology for more than a decade. Zirconium oxide shows no measurable solubility and is kind to tissue. No allergic reactions are known. Its considerably lower thermal conductivity compared with metals is the basis for pleasant wearing comfort. In addition, the material plays no part whatsoever in galvanic processes.
-
Strength and long-term stability
The initial and long-term stability of zirconium oxide are far above the values of conventional all-ceramics. The high flexural strength values of over 1,300 MPa and the high fracture toughness of over 5 MPa m1/2 ensure excellent stability and reliability even with a delicate design.

The highest aesthetics and compatibility
Zirconium oxide crowns and bridges blend in so perfectly with their natural surroundings that they are virtually unrecognisable as restorations. Zirconium oxide is kind to tissue.
